Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day is celebrated annually in over 100 countries worldwide.

Initially launched in 2004 as an EU initiative, Safer Internet Day (SID) has expanded beyond the EU borders to become a global programme. It is now a global force for improved online safety.

The theme for 2018 is Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you.  It’s a call for action for all of us to play a part in creating a better internet for everyone – in particular young people.  It is an invitation for all of us to join in and engage with others in a respectful way.

Safer Internet Day events have been taking place around the world, supported by hundreds of free-to-use resources available on the website.  The site provides a global community platform for participating organisations and members of the public where they can share and access ideas, knowledge and experience.
