The latest update of WhatsApp introduces improvements to its file sharing function. When document sharing was introduced in 2016, only PDFs could be shared. Now, users can share any file types – up to 100MB.
One other change sees improvements to photo-sharing. For users sending lots of photos at one time, the pictures will now be grouped into a gallery. The photos will no longer be compressed.
WhatsApp is also working on changes to its video viewing functionality. At the moment, when users click on a YouTube video link, the video opens in the YouTube app, forcing users to switch between the apps. The new version will allow users to see the videos inside their WhatsApp chats.
