UK: Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Archive to be digitised

Digital collaboration between Adam Matthew and internationally renowned theatre.


The collection will be launched in 2019 to mark the centenary of the birth of Sam Wanamaker.  The actor and director was the driving force behind the project to reconstruct the Globe Theatre on the banks of the river Thames.

The astonishing archive includes:

  • Prompt books containing key staging information
  • Wardrobe bibles, photographs, sketches and preliminary costume ideas
  • Music files
  • Audience reports, including weather details and number of fainters
  • Performance programmes
  • Photographs of productions
  • Architectural research notes and drawings, for the new indoor and outdoor theatres
