Launched just over a year ago SharedIt covers 2700 journals and allows authors and subscribers to post links to free-to-read versions of research articles to social media, repositories, websites, email and collaboration networks.
The metrics data released by Springer Nature show:
- SharedIt links were used to read Springer Nature articles 3,276,125 times, in 200 markets from almost 29,000 institutions
- Links shared by authors were accessed 1.15 million times
- The United States leads the way in readers using SharedIt links
The ten most popular papers accessed via SharedIt links. The topics range from AI and neural networks to cancer studies and fossil research into the African origins of Homo sapiens.
