ProQuest acquires ebrary

ProQuest claims acquisition will 'accelerate the process of serious research'

ProQuest has acquired ebook pioneer ebrary.

The agreement brings a quarter of a million e-books to ProQuest's already significant content offerings.

The combined collection will enable users to search seamlessly across multiple formats - books, journals, dissertations, newspapers, video, and more - and across eight centuries of the world's knowledge.

Founded in 1999, ebrary was a pioneer in the e-book industry and has built a reputation for providing consistent innovation that supports the research experience.  It increased its annual revenue by 30% in 2010.

ProQuest plans continued investment in ebrary's popular products and services for the academic, corporate, and public library markets.
