Open Library of Humanities gains grant

Birkbeck, University of London, awarded Mellon Foundation grant.

A grant of over £475k from the Andrew W Mellon Foundation has been awarded to Birkbeck, University of London.

The grant will go towards supporting the Open Library of Humanities (OLH) which allows readers free access to scholarly content and which does not charge authors to publish.  The Open Library of Humanities is supported by an international library consortium.  More than 80 institutions from around the world have signed up to support the platform financially.

The grant will be used to build the sustainability model for OLH, to build the open source typesetting software and to increase the number of journals published on the platform.

The platform launches in September 2015.
