Netherlands – R&D spending down

Decline in percentage of GDP invested in innovation.

According to the Rathenau Institute, which studies developments in science and technology in the country, government spending in scientific research and innovation will decline over the next five years.

The prediction comes as the Netherlands dropped one place (to sixth) in the most recent European innovation index.

The Rathenau Institute says that the closure of special funds is causing the decline.
