Netherlands: Legal action on NSA monitoring

Coalition accuses Dutch government of bypassing privacy rules.

Lawyers and journalists in the Netherlands are suing the country’s home affairs minister and the government. They want the government to stop using data collected by the NSA in the Netherlands.  The complaint states that the government is bypassing its own privacy rules by getting allies to spy on their citizens for them.

The Dutch government stated the information collected ‘only concerns metadata’ but a coalition of organisations and professionals is not satisfied.
