Google's eBookstore opens in UK

Almost a year after its US launch, Google's eBookstore arrives in Europe.

Google's eBookstore was launched in the US in December 2010 and has now entered the UK market.

The company has signed agreements with several large UK publishers including Penguin and Random House and also plans to provide 'more than two million' free, public domain works.  It has not, however, partnered with an e-reader provider as it has in the US (with iRiver Story).

There are plans to expand the eBookstore into Australia and Canada early in 2012.
