Germany: newspapers 'reject' French Google deal

German newspapers won't copy French newspaper's royalty agreement.

The German association of newspaper publishers, BDZV, has rejected the idea of copying the royalty agreement reached between French newspapers and Google.

BDZV noted that the French agreement has positive aspects, but was concerned that it only mentioned Google, providing no legal recourse against other content aggregators.

Germany's government wants to introduce a law that news aggregators will have to pay for the content that they use.
