Germany: Facebook probe

Data protection concerns cited by Germany's Bundeskartellamt.

Facebook is being investigated for suspected anti-competitive behaviour.

The German watchdog, the Bundeskartellamt, will probe whether Facebook’s terms of service, which permit the use of user data for ad-tracking, are an abuse of Germany’s data protection laws.

German politicians have criticised Facebook's privacy practices which require users to accept the company’s terms of service , allowing the company to collect and use personal data.

Facebook responded by expressing its willingness to work with the watchdog.
