France: magazine fined for illegal download advice

€10k fine imposed by French court.

French magazine Téléchargement has been fined €10k after publishing an article providing links to resources that would help its readers access copyright infringing content.

The article included information on Bittorrent sites and advice on how to use Google to search for illegal content.

The fine imposed matched the potential revenue of the magazine's 6000 print run.
