Float, float on...

Two major flotations are predicted - but not confirmed

Will 2011 see at least one major social media flotation?  The investment secured by Facebook at the start of 2011 has valued the company at $50bn and renewed speculation about a possible stock market flotation.

Meanwhile, according to New Media Age, LinkedIn is also reported to be looking to go public, with an estimated value of $2bn.

The speculation is that, should Facebook 'float' it is unlikely to happen until 2012, leaving the path clear for LinkedIn to hit the market first.
