Europeans 'bundling' internet, TV, phone

The latest EU e-communications survey highlights barriers to switching service suppliers - and concerns about internet speed.

A survey, conducted by Eurobarometer, shows that 42% of Europeans are 'bundling' - buying their internet, phone and TV services from a single supplier.

27,000 consumers across the EU participated in the e-communications household survey in February and March 2011.

Other key findings:

  • 89% of EU households have access to a mobile phone
  • 77% of EU households reported that they would 'never' switch their bundle supplier.  Barriers to switching include temporary loss of service and lack of awareness of the switching process
  • 1 in 4 respondents reported their internet speed did not match what they felt their contracts promised
  • 50% of of users limiting internet access on their smartphones due to cost constraints
