European universities to use Ucas

Universities from across the EU can now apply to join Ucas.

A rule change means that UK students may soon be able to use Ucas, the UK’s higher education application service, to apply to European universities.  Previously they would have to apply directly to the university.

Universities wishing to join Ucas must demonstrate they meet ‘equivalent standards’ of UK institutions.

Every year approximately 30,000 UK students take up undergraduate places abroad. However, they are not eligible for loans or grants towards tuition and maintenance costs.
