Dow Jones to launch City-focused news app

WSJ City will be free at launch.

Dow Jones, the owner of the Wall Street Journal, is launching a City-focused news app. The mobile-only app will be called WSJ City and will include financial stories from The Times as well as the Wall Street Journal, all part of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

WSJ City will be free at launch. Quoted in The Guardian, Dow Jones Chief Executive William Lewis said “Over time, we would like to occupy the territory the FT has ceded.”

Last month, WSJ relaunched as a broadsheet in Europe and Asia and embarked on a marketing push for the print publication.
