A Christmas fairy tale

A researcher has discovered the first fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen.

The Tallow Candle was discovered by a researcher working in the Danish National Archives and confirmed by Andersen experts including a research librarian at the Royal Library.

The story is thought to have been written by the author when he was a schoolboy.
