UK Medical Heritage Library: new partners announced

Digitised holdings of nine new partner organisations will enhance collection.

The UK Medical Heritage Library is an online resource for the history of medicine and related sciences.  Nine partner institutions – including the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh will contribute approximately 15 million pages of printed works over the next two years.

The initiative began last year when the Wellcome Library began its project with the Internet Archive to digitise its collection of 19th-century medical books. The project has now been extended and the digitised holdings will be made freely available to researchers and the public.

The announcement was made by the Wellcome Library and Jisc.  You can read more about the project on the Jisc website.
