Facebook kills off mail service

Low usage numbers cited as reason for closure.

Launched in 2010 Facebook’s email service never really made much of an impact.

Low user numbers have been cited as the reason behind the move.

Email messages sent to @facebook email addresses will now be forwarded to the primary email account given to Facebook by users.

This email forwarding function may be switched off in Settings.
