EU cuts costs of data roaming

EU caps roaming charges by up to 50%.


The EU has cut the cost of surfing the web in the EU by 50%.  The cost of calls and text messages in other EU countries is also being reduced. 

The cost of using the internet in another EU country will fall to a maximum of 20 cents per megabyte (down from 45 cents).  The changes have been announced ahead of the summer holidays. 

Neelie Kroes, the EU Minister, wants to eliminate all roaming charges by the 2014.
